Do You Need to Identify a Blogger?

Millions of people have blogs and even more millions read them. They can be a fun and friendly way for you to keep an online diary, rant about politics or share your expertise or advice in a certain field.

But what happens when your blog attracts the attention of a stalker? Or worse. What happens if a stalker is so obsessed with you that they create an entire blog all about you just to cyber stalk, defame and harass you online?

It can be a nightmare that's what!

Thousands of people are finding themselves in that exact position. Some obsessed individual has targeted them and made them the focus of their disturbed online obsession.

They find out that some anonymous blogger is taking their words out of context, defaming their good reputation and causing great emotional distress in every way. The stalkers blog may even be impersonating them to purposely damage their reputation.

This can often escalate to real life stalking and harassment and even violence if left unchecked. The stalker can start sending their lies to your friends family coworkers or clients. This could ruin your personal and professional reputation.

If this is happening to you it's not something you can just ignore and hope it goes way.

First, what not to do.
Do not get into an online flame war with your stalker. They crave your attention.
Do not create an blog to harass them back. If it escalates to court this will ruin your credibility.
Do not report them to their ISP. If the blog gets shut down they'll just start another one. By shutting down the blog you are destroying evidence.

Second, what you should do.
Document everything. Save everything to disc and print out on paper.
Consult with an expert in locating and identifying cyber stalkers.
Remove all your personal information and contact information from online.
